Originally
built by Richard Starr and known as "The Old Star Tavern" this
authentically restored 1790 log home, housed and fed weary travelers.
After selling the property to Daniel Calendine, Starr repurchased the
Tavern in 1833/34 from Calendines widow and children.
When neighbors William and John Fowler realized that the road in front
of the Starr property would become heavily traveled, they purchased the
property and began construction of the existing structure now know as
Drovers Inn.
When the Drovers Inn was opened in 1851 the log structure was rented as
a single family dwelling. Drovers Inn held occupants until 1930.
In 1993 the building collapsed. Restoration began in September of 1993
and the building has since been restored to its original floorplan and
architectural design. in 1995 the log house was once again opened to overnight
travelers.
